it's a shot in the dark

William Wegman, Dusted (1988)

after acknowledging the weight, the pressure, the inconvenience...she asked, why not just move over half a foot?  it's just dust,  just shake it off...
yeah, I needed to hear that.

(I'm happy to sacrifice audio quality for that smile,
aren't you?)

on the beginning

"What you do first thing can influence your whole day.
If the first thing you do is stump to the computer in your pajamas to check your e-mail,
blinking and plucking your proverbs,
you’re going to be in a hungry electronic funk all morning.
So don’t do it."

just a few things...

Steal Like an Artist (the book!) by Austin Kleon is out...view his blog here

We shall not cease from exploration

And the end of all our exploring

Will be to arrive where we started

And know the place for the first time.

great and wonderful

What Matters to You // Me? from Jr.canest on Vimeo.

dear future students,
why are you here?  are you doing that which you believe is great and wonderful?
what is that thing, but more importantly what is your thing?
what do you believe can help you with your THING?

assignment 2 is to submit a request, an appeal, a reason to your version of VFS why you should receive that help.  This is your job application, your interview, your recommendation letter, your college application essay (but it is more than that, because rarely are those things related to the THING of which we are talking)...so remember that you should prove yourself, you should stand firm in the foundation you have created thus far, but you should also explain where you want to go and why this person/place/experience would help you get there.  Think big, don't restrict yourself to the path you are currently taking.

You may choose to create this request in any medium you see fit, but do consider your chosen audience and the ideas/emotions/dreams/etc. you wish to convey...and what would be the best fit for yourself, your audience, and your THING.

e: it's interesting that we don't remember pain..I know I was in pain yesterday, but I can't remember the   feeling of the pain
c: yeah, because it was physical.  we remember things that are attached emotionally, and you remember that you were in pain because feeling pain is an emotional response
e: I think you're right...I don't think I can remember any pure feeling...
